On 5th May 2021, the works related to the protection of the winter bat shelters, carried out in bunker No. 24 located in the area of Natura 2000 Uroczyska Roztocza Wschodniego PLH060093, plot No. 284, Dęby precinct, commune of Lubycza Królewska, were accepted.

As part of the task, the entrances to the shelters were secured, both within the entrance openings and other openings in the walls and ceilings through which it was possible to get inside.

In addition, works were carried out to stabilise and improve microclimatic conditions by closing openings in the walls and ceilings, both internal and external, of each facility. The aim of these works is to reduce the rate of air circulation, which will reduce freezing of bunkers and increase air humidity.

Adaptation works were also carried out in the facilities to increase the number of micro-shelters, such as the insertion of ready-made or specially prepared elements made of ceramics and sawdust concrete.

The bunkers included in the project are not only places of hibernation, but also shelters during transition periods and places of swarming.  As a result, sawdust and concrete and wooden boxes were hung around the shelters.

This is the last shelter in the Uroczyska Roztocza Wschodnie PLH060093
Natura 2000 site, where adaptation works were carried out as part of the project Protection of endangered bat species within the Natura 2000 network in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship”.

We hope that our little friends will enjoy the renovated winter apartments, adapted to their needs.
