In April 2021, the works carried out under the task: “Roof renovation and adaptation works in the attic, related to the presence of bats, in the St Clement Pope Church in Skalnik”
The Regional Directorate for Environmental Protection in Rzeszów, as the beneficiary of the project, obtained funds for this purpose, thanks to which, within the framework of the task renovation and adaptation works were performed in the above mentioned facility.
The works included, in particular:
- CONSTRUCTION AND RENOVATION WORKS:
1) replacement of the entire roofing made of galvanised steel sheet with copper sheet,
2) replacement of the damaged roof boarding,
3) replacement of individual damaged elements of the roof framework
and other related elements,
4) liquidation of the existing small windows in the covering of the nave,
5) The works should include:
– disassembly of the lightning protection system,
– flashing on walls and verge trims,
– disassembly of roof gutters,
– replacement of the shutters in the tower windows and in the steeple on the flight route of bats,
including dismantling of existing meshes,
– disassembly of lantern sheets of the steeple,
– cleaning the roof framework from organic contamination,
6) renovation of the lightning protection system related to the replacement of the covering, along with the performance of tests.
- ADAPTATION WORKS FOR BATS:
1) making a guano platform,
2) replacement of steel shutters in the windows of the tower with wooden ones,
3) keeping the existing inlets and making a gap under the flashings in these places,
4) execution of roof hatches with inlets for bats in small attics above the sacristy,
5) replacement of the existing window opening in the main part of the roof with a roof hatch,
6) renovation of the platform in part of the tower, removal of all meshes from the windows, and installation of a screen on the shutters in the windows on the south side, on the side of the existing reflector,
7) installation of a partition in the top of the roof structure.
The contractor of the task, selected following an open tender, was a company named
Robert Dudek P.P.H.U. Blachman.
The value of the task is PLN 698 219.91.
The task was implemented by the Regional Directorate for Environmental Protection in Rzeszów within the project entitled “Protection of endangered species of bats under the Natura 2000 network in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship”.
